**Tap, Rhythm & Percussion

The participants will learn some basic tap steps and rhythmic patterns with percussion instruments.  We will explore creative fusion of these core elements through improvisations.  For percussion explorations, we will also have non traditional “noisemaker” or found object “instruments”.  Bring any percussive objects that could be used in this experimental and creative improvisational workshop.  Bring tap shoes or any sturdy hard shoes for tap segment of the workshop.  No previous tap or drumming experience is necessary for this workshop.

Vicky Robbins was trained in dance at Contra Costa Ballet, Joffery School and American Ballet Theatre School. She has degrees in Dance Theatre and Education. Most of her professional dance career was spent in Europe. She has taught dance and Pilates for the past 15 years here in Hawaii and enjoys collaborating on creative projects with other artists.  She has also been an Advanced Teaching Artist with the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts for several years. 

Steve Campbell, local drummer and artist performing a solo on drum set. Steve performs within the state of Hawaii and abroad, often taking short notice gigs as a relief drummer for local bands and international performers. Steve has his own bands and they remain exclusive to the hotel and corporate market.  He also teaches drum set.
