**Tahitian Percussion for Children
by Na Pua Mae’ole Ensemble

The participants will learn basic Tahitian drumming patterns and rhythms to create Tahitian ensemble.  It will be a fun workshop focusing on community building of dynamic Tahitian music. 

Na Pua Mae’ole Ensemble is made up of Pahoa High & Intermediate School students under the direction of Pi'ilani Ka'awaloa.  The ensemble initially started with five members and has increased steadily over the years. Currently the ensemble has grown to over 20 members. Today Na Pua Mae'ole is a registered Gifted and Talented class at Pahoa High and Intermediate School, open to students from 7th to 12th grade by auditions.  Their performance highlights include statewide performances as well as to American Samoa, Tahiti, California and Washington DC.  They also regularly perform on the Norwegian Cruise Lines.
