**Samba for a Day:  Carnival Rhythms of Brazil by Jesse Seymour

Sat. November 3,  11:30-12:30 & 1-2pm (For all ages, Fee:  $10/session)
Center Stage Dance Studio

Join us on an exciting adventure into the richness and excitement of this ancient and powerful rhythmic style. All levels and ages are encouraged to participate in this fun and educational class. Students will have the opportunity to play numerous traditional samba drums including surdo(bass drum), agogo(bell), caixa(snare), conga, caxixi(shakers), Timbao(hand drum), and tambourim. These drums will be provided and bring your own if you like.  Students will learn fundamental patterns that work together in an ensemble setting to produce this infectious groove.  If you have a heartbeat, then you got rhythm, so don’t miss it.

Jesse Seymour, a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, has extensively studied numerous percussion styles from Cuba, West Africa, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Nigeria, Ghana, and the Congo for years.  Jesse has shared the stage with many well known artists such as Celia Cruz, Mohammed Camara(Tata Denke)), Eggui Castrillo(Tito Puente Tribute Orchestra), Rolando Sanchez(Salsa Hawaii), Moussa Bangoura(Sewa Fare), Reynaldo Gonzales(Raices Negras), Assane and Ousseynou Kouyate(Grios Kouyate), and Erin Harpe(Lovewhip).  Just finishing his third tour with Orchestra La Pasion Segun San Marcus he continues to use his diverse knowledge of rhythm to participate in some of the most cutting edge music of this time.
