Our Story

Bare & Core Expression was founded to satisfy the unfilled niche of presentations of diverse voices and expressions in our communities.    It’s “Bare & Core” because 1) We believe in the accessibility of the arts, we want the general public to be able to afford to experience and appreciate the arts.  Using the core elements of the various art forms, we strive to provide quality presentations that are accessible and affordable to everyone.  2) We want to share and present the works of arts that make us think.  Without the thoughts and reflections provoked by the works of arts, it would be mere entertainment not art.

Since our establishment in 2003, we have been steadily involved in promoting the accessibility of arts in our community.  We have collaborated with several community organizations and schools to bring more arts to our community.  Our contractor-artists provided arts education programs for other non-profit organizations as well as in various schools.  We have also offered workshops on creative arts and percussion music workshops for D.O.E. teachers.  We have collaborated with the Department of Parks and Recreation and Hawaii Community College to bring artists to the community.  We sponsored a traditional Korean music troupe to the Big Island to offer school lecture-demonstrations and a public performance at Lyman Museum.

We strive to provide quality performing events, arts education programs and workshops, and most of all creative opportunities where everyone can grow and nurture through making arts.  Please join us at our various events and help us grow further!
